An antique Georgian crescent moon brooch. Natural pearls and tiny seed
pearls. Hand sewn or hand threaded onto a mother of pearl template. Typically
horsehair was used. Very intricate work. I believe that the pearl moon dates back
much earlier than the gold hardware or finding. From the 1820s to 1850s late
Georgian to early Victorian period The pin on the back is 14K rose gold. (stamped)
Simple C clasp that is in working order.
Measurements: 3/4" by 3/4" Condition: ---There appears to be three or four tiny pearls missing from the inside edge of
the moon. That being said...I am not sure if they are missing or if that was the way
this piece was made.
---There is some yellowing around some of the pearls. Perhaps an old lacquer.
---As with most of these sewn pieces, you can see the thread. Please see photos.
