This is a tiny antique 1901 Victorian to Edwardian era awards pin. It has a
banner reading "S*S." with laurel leaves and a flaming torch. At the top of
the torch are the numbers " '01". I am not sure what the "S*S" stands for....
Social Studies....Sunday School...Scholastic...Student....The pin test 10K
yellow gold. The findings on the back are NOT 10K and show age and
darkening. Hallmarked on the back "FOLGER 200 B'WAY N.Y." It also has
a star above that. It dates to 1901.
Measurements:
3/4" by 5/8"

--- It has a simple C clasp that is in working order. There is an unusual
safety mechanism.
